Magistrate Jeffrey D. Slyman

Magistrate Jeffrey D. Slyman graduated from Grove City College in 1975, earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in History, with a minor in English. He then earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1979, where he wrote for and was a member of the Law Review.

Magistrate Slyman has been married to Donna Braun for over thirty five (35) years, since 1979. They have two accomplished adult sons, Chad and Joel Slyman. Donna is an RN, working at Kettering Hospital and Hospice of Dayton. Magistrate Slyman resides in Tipp City, Ohio, where he and his wife are active members of Zion Lutheran Church. He also serves on the Board for Wernle Youth & Family Treatment Center and is a member of Tippecanoe Masonic Lodge, and the Huber Heights Rotary.

Magistrate Slyman has been blessed with a very active practice, with an emphasis on litigation, family law, personal injury, and small business litigation. He has been involved in literally thousands of municipal court cases, both as prosecuting attorney and as defense counsel. He is a member of the Miami and Montgomery County Bar Associations, the Ohio State Bar Association, the National and Ohio Associations of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and a member of the Family Law Forum and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

During his career, Magistrate Slyman served as a prosecuting attorney for the Miami County Municipal Court for more than a decade, and also for the Vandalia Municipal Court. His experience also includes working as a staff attorney for the Second District Court of Appeals. Magistrate Slyman has also served as Magistrate for the Dayton and Vandalia Municipal Courts, and as Law Director for the Village of Laura; and acting Law Director for the City of Tipp City.
