Judge
Robert E. Messham, Jr. serves as the elected judge of the Miamisburg Municipal Court. He was appointed by the governor of the state of Ohio in 1989 to fill the unexpired term of a prior judge, and he has been re-elected three times.
Judge Messham received his bachelor's degree in 1968 and his law degree in 1972 from The Ohio State University. He began his law practice in 1972 at the law office of Baver & Doan in Miamisburg, Ohio. From 1975 to 1989, Judge Messham was a partner in the law firm of Baver, Messham & Bookwalter Co. L.P.A. in Miamisburg. As a full-time municipal judge, he no longer engages in the private practice of law.
Judge Messham is a member of the Dayton Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association. He has served as a member of the Dayton Bar Association's Ethics Committee, and he is a member and past chairman of the Committee on Bar Exam Qualifications. Messham is also a member of the Ohio Municipal and County Judges' Association, the Ohio Judicial Conference, American Judges' Association, and the American Judicature Society. He has served on the Montgomery County Criminal Justice Council and the Criminal Justice Policy Board.
Judge Messham is a life-long resident of the Dayton area, and he has resided in the Miamisburg Municipal Court's jurisdiction for thirty-seven years. He currently resides with his family in Miami Township. His community involvement has included supporting and coaching youth sports in West Carrollton and Moraine, and he has been a member of local service clubs. He is a proud sponsor of local D.A.R.E. programs, and he is a regular supporter and participant in Miami Township's National Night Out.
